A world of opportunity as firm goes for growth

A Yorkshire company that manufactures synthetic surfaces for the sports and leisure industry is gearing up for global expansion.

Playrite, based in Liversedge, West Yorkshire, is winning orders in Europe, North America and Australasia after appearing at a major trade fair in Germany.

Contracts have arrived to provide all-weather and safe play surfaces for football pitches, tennis courts and playgrounds.

Overseas trade is a key part of the company's plans.

Sales director Chris Pickles said: "There are some huge markets out there and we're determined to maximise our potential by doing all we can to discover them, however far flung they may be.

"We're equally committed to UK growth, but as the market here slows because of economic constraints and uncertainty over building programmes in general, now is the perfect time for us to broaden our horizons and establish ourselves as a true global operator."

Playrite attended the specialist FSB exhibition in Cologne, using funding from UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) to help it secure a large stand.

Distributors have been secured as far afield as Australia, India, and Canada.
