But company directors should always do their research before launching products and services in unknown places.

UK Trade & Investment, the Government’s support organisation for exporters, has launched a new guide to licensing and franchising in new and emerging economies.

“The guide is aimed at companies of any size who are seeking to capitalise on overseas opportunities, or who are considering licensing as the next logical step to expand an existing export operation,” said Mark Robson, UKTI international trade director for Yorkshire and the Humber.

“It will assist manufacturers and service providers alike with no prior experience of the market under consideration, as well as those who already trading with the target market in other areas.”
