Yorkshire Forward exec leaves post

The executive director of business at Yorkshire Forward is leaving after five years.

Simon Hill will become the new managing director of Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation, which buys products on behalf of local authorities.

In an email, he said: “I give you this news with a degree of mixed feelings as I will be very sad to leave YF and I will miss the joint working with regional partners.

“The YPO role is a very exciting opportunity and offers me a real challenge at a time of significant public funding cuts and a drive for greater commercial efficiency in the sector.”

Mr Hill, who joined Yorkshire Forward after a 20-year career in industry, will hand over his duties to an internally recruited director for projects and programme.

He has been overseeing the transition and closure programme after the coalition Government announced the abolition of regional development agencies.

Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation has a turnover of £400m and 400 staff at Wakefield. Publicly owned, it buys for more than 100 local authorities.
