The other speakers will be Karyn McCluskey, co-director of the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, and journalist and author Lady Kishwar Desai.

The event is being held in partnership with the Yorkshire Asian Business Association.

A Forward Ladies’ spokesperson said: “Germaine Greer created controversy with her first book, and 40 years later she still has plenty to say on the subject of the inequalities of women.

“In a recent talk to an Ilkley Literary Festival audience, she reflected on how during the past 40 years, women seem to have ‘disappeared’ and suggested strategies for improvement.

“Covering a range of thought-provoking topics relating to the concept of the ‘disappearing woman’, she stressed the imperative for women in the UK, in finding a powerful collective voice to drive the agenda to achieve real change.

“Forty years ago it seemed that women were about to take their rightful place in the world – in parliament, in the church, in the judiciary and in the workplace, but women still suffer the inequalities on their gender.”

Linda Barlow, managing director of Forward Ladies, said: “Forward Ladies has never been afraid to tackle issues which affect women in the workplace.

“We have three very successful women from very different backgrounds who have championed the role of professional women, each in their own way.
