As a supplier to the NHS, the Leeds-based firm has helped the fight against Covid-19 at multiple levels. This has ranged from supplying free access to its video consultation software to front line clinicians, to offering up-to-date public advice and guidance on Patient.info, through to supporting research projects working on Covid-19 prevention and cure.

Now it is helping with the launch of the NHS vaccination programme, including the deployment of its Pinnacle solution to support the Government's programme.

Emis is working with the NHS to scale up the software beyond the previous system capacity to meet the unprecedented demands of the rapidly expanding vaccination programme while maintaining high performance standards.

The group said that following an improvement in the second half of 2020, trading for the year was marginally ahead of the board’s expectations, with both revenue and adjusted operating profit maintained at similar levels to the previous year.

The firm has been praised for making a number of technology solutions available at no extra cost to support NHS front line staff at a time when short term profits and revenue came second to providing the NHS with all the help it could.

Andy Thorburn, chief executive of Emis, said: “In these extraordinary times I am proud that Emis has risen to the challenge of supporting our national heroes in the NHS, in community pharmacy and across the healthcare sector.

The level of commitment from our team has been extraordinary.

“I am pleased that our trading improved in the second half of the year and believe this reflects the strength of our business model and of our team. The board remains confident in the outlook for the business.”
