Yorkshire Tiger goes on parade

room for one more? This is the Yorkshire Tiger, a 1929 Leyland lovingly restored by apprentices at Bluebird Vehicles and soon to be starring in next month’s Lord Mayor’s Show in London, writes Bernard Ginns.

The vintage bus will take part after the incoming mayor, Bradford-born David Wootton, invited tourist organisation Welcome to Yorkshire to enter the parade.

Bluebird took on the restoration project 18 months ago to demonstrate that while it might only be eight years old, it has the tradition and skills to be more than a match to rival firms. It was on display yesterday at the Coach & Bus Live 2011 industry event at Birmingham’s NEC.
