Yorkshire Water names new director of communications

YORKSHIRE Water has announced the appointment of Michelle Lewis as director of corporate communications.

She joined the Bradford-based company as public affairs manager in 2006, after having spent four years at Asda, lobbying on a range of issues including employment, food and farming and sustainability. Prior to that, she was the government affairs manager for the Yorkshire Electricity Group.

Specialist property auctioneer Pugh & Co has expanded its offering in the Yorkshire region by opening a new office in Leeds city centre and by announcing the appointment of Glenn Levison as chartered surveyor. Based on The Headrow, the office will concentrate on serving its existing clients in the region and will build on its already established auctions in Leeds and Newcastle. Mr Levison joins the company from Sanderson Weatherall in Leeds, where he was partner in the commercial agency for seven years.

Meanwhile, Nova Healthcare has strengthened its team at its base within Europe’s largest cancer centre at St James’s Hospital in Leeds by appointing Mark Almond as its new executive director. He brings more than 20 years of NHS and private healthcare experience to the new role. He joins the independent healthcare provider ahead of a planned expansion programme that will see it develop new services for people across Yorkshire, as well as extending existing ones into new parts of the UK.

WH Ireland, a stockbroking, wealth management and corporate broking and advisory group, has appointed Tim Feather as corporate finance director, based in Leeds. Mr Feather has over 15 years’ investment banking experience, most recently as a director and head of corporate finance at Westhouse Securities.

Leeds law firm Clarion has appointed Sue Mason as an associate in its five-strong family team. She joins Clarion from Newbury law firm, Charles Lucas & Marshall Solicitors, where she spent two years as a senior solicitor. Also in the legal sector, Clare Lawrence has been appointed as a solicitor to the charities and social economy law team at Leeds firm Wrigleys Solicitors LLP, and Leeds commercial solicitors Shulmans has taken on Richard Robinson as assistant solicitor in its new property support unit.

Meanwhile, Saltaire Brewery has appointed its first sales director, Ewen Gordon, as part of its plans to expand its brewing capacity. And Hayley Johnson, is now PR and social media consultant at Type Agency in Leeds, having left her role in press and corporate communications at Leeds, York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce.
