YouGov boosted by contract wins

POLLING firm YouGov has reported a near 20 per cent jump in UK business after it gained new clients such as retailer Argos and publisher Penguin Books.

The group, which achieved UK revenues of £6.4 million in the six months to January 31, said growth at home was driven by the consumer, technology and telecoms sector.

But the company also unveiled a further push into the US - already its biggest market - as it acquired Definitive Insights, a market research consultancy based in Portland, Oregon for £3 million.

YouGov posted a 64 per cent increase in underlying pre-tax profits in the half-year of £2.3 million, while total turnover increased 27 per cent to £27 million in the period.
