Nominated by his colleagues at Technica, Mr Browning started his four-year trade apprenticeship in electrical, instrumentation and control in September 2010.

Mike Clarke, safety, health, environment and quality manager at Technica, said: “A number of our clients have commented on Jack’s enthusiasm and interest in their projects, he’s impressed them with his skills and we’re very proud of the contribution he is making to the business.

“His apprenticeship has given him a strong grounding within the electrical installation discipline; he definitely has the potential to progress to become a highly skilled engineer in the future.” Technica currently employs 40 people and its annual turnover is £3.5m.

Adrian Wookey, ECITB regional account manager, said: “Jack is a great example of how an apprentice can benefit a business.

“He is obviously valued by his employer and his work team and is inspiring to his fellow apprentices. Technica are confident in his ability and are proud to assign challenging tasks to him.

“The engineering construction industry is in a position to be able to offer exciting and well-paid careers to young people. Our latest manpower forecasts predict a 30 per cent growth over the next ten years with 60,000 more skilled workers needed across all our sectors.

“It is vital to the future of engineering construction in this country that we raise awareness of the industry and the available careers with young people.”
