Young entrepreneurs urged to sign up as new chambers are launched

Junior Chamber International (JCI), which already has 150 members in Yorkshire, is launching two new chambers this year in response to demand.

The chambers, in Rotherham and Harrogate, will give entrepreneurs aged between 18 to 40 the chance to expand their professional network and learn new skills.

JCI’s new chamber taskforce is being led by Leeds-based Emma Eastwood, the immediate past resident of JCI UK.

She said: “Having lived in Leeds for 17 years, I was really passionate about anything that could be done to strengthen the JCI offering in Yorkshire.

“Being a member of JCI really has been a life-changing experience for me, I’ve travelled the world, made great business connections and even met the Queen.

“I would encourage any young professionals in Yorkshire to see what their local chamber has to offer.”

Kate Senter, JCI UK President for 2014, said: “Yorkshire has always been a very strong region within JCI UK and I am thrilled we are continuing to build on these foundations with the launch of these new chambers.”

The first meeting of the Harrogate chamber is taking place at 6.30pm on January 28 at the Pitcher and Piano on John Street, Harrogate.

Over the years, JCI in Yorkshire has provided mentoring for young people who have gone on to achieve national prominence.
