In the movie, Ferrell plays Buddy, the human child who is brought up in the North Pole as an elf. Zooey Deschanel is Jovie, the department store employee whose heart he eventually wins.
The survey was carried out by the social data app, TrueView, which found that 15.7 per cent of men and women loved the film. Men preferred the film slightly more than women (15% to 12.4%) – and the findings did highlight interesting differences in the viewing preferences of both sexes.
Love, Actually was the second most popular of the films, but more heavily favoured by women. It’s A Wonderful Life was third, but considerably more popular among men.
Love, Actually is a tale which includes the Prime Minister, played by Hugh Grant, falling for his cleaning lady, played by Martine McCutcheon. It’s A Wonderful Life is the story of George, a disillusioned men who wants to commit suicide but is then shown by his guardian angel what things would be like if he had not existed at all.
There are two films which women like almost twice as much as men – Miracle on 34th Street and The Holiday.
