And now, Amanda Owen has returned to the literary scene once more, with her second book officially launched at The Station in Richmond today.

‘A Year in the Life of the Yorkshire Shepherdess’ is a new take on life in Ravenseat. It takes the mother-of-eight’s story on from her debut ‘The Yorkshire Shepherdess’ in which she explained how she went from a rebellious child growing up in industrial Huddersfield, to living with her husband Clive and their children on the 2,000-acre farm.

Taking time out from the farm’s busy farming season, Mrs Owen told The Yorkshire Post what her readers can expect.

“This one takes a simple format of going through life on a hill farm,” she said. “It isn’t a farming manual, it’s about saying these are some of the mistakes we’ve made and this is how it works here and how sometimes it doesn’t. It covers what it’s like to live somewhere remote, to giving birth to my eighth child completely on my own - it’s not like the Waltons here!”

After starring in ITV’s The Dales, Mrs Owen went on to pen her first book which was such a success that film studio Warner Bros has bought the rights to it.

A Year in the Life of the Yorkshire Shepherdess, published by Sidgwick & Jackson, is out now in hardback, priced £16.99.
