Ambition not ‘dirty concept’ for girls says head
MORE than half the exam entries at fee-paying schools resulted in an A grade this year although the figure was slightly down on last year.
Overall, the ISC said that 51.3 per cent of A-level entries from fee-paying schools scored at least an A this year, compared to 51.4 per cent last year. And 18 per cent of entries got an A*, the same proportion as last year. The ISC said that its early findings show 5.8 per cent of its candidates, about 1,891 pupils, were awarded three or more A* grades. National A-level results, published by the Joint Council for Qualifications showed that across England, Wales and Northern Ireland 26.3 per cent of entries scored an A or A*, down from 26.6 per cent last year.
