City’s pupils top of the improvements
Meadowfield Primary was the highest ranked school from the region in a table of 200 schools across England that have delivered year-on-year improvements in their key stage two standard assessment tests (Sats).
In 2008, just 30 per cent of pupils at the school in Halton Moor Avenue achieved level four results in their English and maths tests.

Hide AdThis summer, 81 per cent of its 11-year-olds achieved this – making the 51 per cent increase the 10th largest in England.
Brudenell Primary in Leeds was Yorkshire’s second most improved primary based on this year’s Sats. It has seen a 38 per cent increase in pupils making the grade - from 38 per cent in 2008 to 76 per cent this summer.
