Drinkers more at risk of skin cancer

REGULAR drinkers increase their risk of skin cancer by about a fifth.

Experts from Italy, Sweden and the US found that alcohol drinkers have about a 20 per cent greater chance of melanoma than non- or occasional drinkers.

The study, published in the British Journal of Dermatology, included analysis of 16 worldwide studies involving more than 6,200 patients with melanoma following previous research that linked drinking with greater chances of sunburn.
