‘Excellent’ rating for private prep school

STAFF and pupils at a private prep school on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales are celebrating an inspection report which rates both the quality of its teaching and pupils’ achievements as “excellent”.

Belmont Grosvenor School, near Harrogate, and its Magic Tree Nursery were both given the best possible rating by the ISI (Independent Schools Inspectorate).

The school was given an overall rating of excellent while the nursery’s early years provision was found to be outstanding.

Head teacher Jane Merriman said: “I am overjoyed that the high standards of teaching and the achievements of pupils have been recognised by the ISI.

“This glowing report highlights the excellent all-round education that we offer children, enabling them to fulfil their aspirations and potential.”

The report described pupils as being “mature, courteous and caring” and highlights the school’s pastoral care as being excellent.

It also praises Belmont Grosvenor School’s curriculum as being “broad and well-balanced” and says its extra-curricular activities are outstanding.
