MP calls for new governors at free school

A BRADFORD MP has suggested that a free school in the city should consider bringing in a new governing body after a critical Ofsted inspection warned that effective action to deliver improvements was not taking place.

The Yorkshire Post revealed yesterday that a monitoring report into the city’s Kings Science Academy called for the school to bring in additional leadership and recruit more experienced teachers.

Bradford East MP David Ward said: “Ofsted’s strong words are not being met with strong action. It is clear that this is a school with deep-seated and continuing problems, particularly around senior management and the quality of teaching. The school is failing to sort itself out and should consider an interim executive board.”

The academy is also at the centre of a scandal involving fraud allegations which is being investigated by West Yorkshire Police.
