Project puts business future in focus for ex-student

Twelve months on, the 22-year-old is running his own successful business and is preparing to take photographs at the Leicester Square premiere of the latest Twilight movie tonight.

He started his own firm after support and funding from a project which backs university students across Yorkshire to become entrepreneurs.

Mr Miller specialises in “interactive photography” which allows people to use iPads to see 360 degree images. He has secured work taking photos of the Olympic Park during the 2012 games and tonight will shoot at the film premiere.

Now his story is being highlighted by Yorkshire’s Graduate Entrepreneurship (GE) Project as it marks Global Entrepreneurship week.

The GE project involves Bradford, Huddersfield, Hull, Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan, Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam, York and York St John Universities and Leeds Trinity University College.

Since September 2011 the project has held more than 100 events, attended by 2,302 budding entrepreneurs, allocated 41 start-up grants and received applications for start-up support from more than 1,000 students.

The GE project has organised a series of event to mark Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Today entrepreneurs at Leeds Metropolitan University will hear experts highlight the legal implications of starting up in business.

Tomorrow Ruth Badger, the runner up on the TV show The Apprentice, will give a speech at Hull University while in Sheffield students from both the city’s universities will present their business ideas at a product development day.
