Safety first on roadshow for teenage pupils

A NEW safeguarding teenagers roadshow has taken place at four secondary schools in Kirklees.

The first event was held at Thornhill Community Academy – the school made famous in Channel 4’s Educating Yorkshire series.

The roadshow has also visited Holmfirth High School, Westborough High School in Dewsbury and Moor End Academy in Huddersfield.

The idea of the scheme was to allow teenagers to speak to experts on issues ranging from drug and alcohol use to domestic violence and the dangers of domestic tattoos.

Roadshow organiser Keely Mathews said: “The feedback from students, staff and parents has been phenomenal.

“The students have been given the opportunity to access a wide range of safeguarding information in the comfort of their own school.”
