School children send Easter cards to cheer up care home residents in lockdown
Pupils from Richmond School and Sixth Form College have pooled their creative talents to craft Easter cards, designed to bring cheer to care home residents who find themselves lonely and isolated during the Springtime period as a result of the coronavirus lockdown.
More than 150 cards have been sent from the Yorkshire students, who are the the children of key workers, to residents at Greyfrairs care home in Richmond, North Yorkshire.

Hide AdJenna Potter, the headteacher from the school, said the cards were made after after students suggested a creative project that would benefit the community.
“It is so important that young people understand how important and meaningful a kind gesture can be," she said.
"Something simple and thoughtful, such as a card, can bring comfort and happiness to others and I am so pleased that our students have worked together on this project.
"At Richmond School, we are so lucky to benefit from being part of a local community that supports and helps us and it is quite right that we support and help others too.”

Hide AdOne of the pupils who helped make the cards added: "I think it's a good idea to give out handmade cards to people to give some joy at this difficult time.
"I think this was a great project to help uplift people during this time of hardship.
"I enjoyed making the cards and I hope the people like them - Happy Easter , everyone!"
Festive Easter cards will also be sent by the school to other elderly people who are living on their own in the community,
