School urges parents to fight closure
York Council issued a notice for the proposed closure of Burnholme Community College despite emotional 11th hour pleas from students to keep it open at a public meeting last week.
Education bosses have drawn up plans to shut the school because of declining student numbers. Just 40 new pupils applied to start in the new academic year in September giving a total of only 270 potential students across all year groups.

He said: “I am confident that the Parents Action Group will no doubt write a document detailing their opposition and I would urge anyone who wishes to see education provision to remain in this community to write in detailing their objections.”
