South African visitors strengthen school links

EDUCATION bosses from South Africa are visiting Leeds this week to learn more about partnerships between schools in the city and in Durban.

A delegation from the Ministry of Education for the KwaZulu-Natal province are visiting five Leeds schools which have built up links with counterparts in their country. Yesterday they visited Cookridge Primary School which has a cross-curricular link with Hillview Primary in Reservoir Hills and Masiphumelele Primary in Cape Town.

They also went to St Mary’s Catholic High School, in Menston, which has a partnership with Mnyakanya High School, which looks at leadership through sport and then to Prince Henry’s Grammar School in Otley, which is linked with Earlington High School in Phoenix.

Today the South Africans will visit Gledhow Primary School and Garforth Academy, which also have links to South African schools.
