Twins heading for Oxbridge after A* success at York school

St Peter’s pupils Francisca and Olivia Anderson achieved seven A* and one A grade between them in their A-Levels.

The sisters from Hopperton, near Harrogate, achieved A*A*A*A* and A*A*A*A respectively at the independent school in York.

Olivia also achieved A* for her extended project qualification, an independent learning qualification which is increasingly valued by universities.

Francisca, who achieved top passes in French, History, Latin and Spanish, will read modern languages (French and Spanish) at Oxford, while Olivia, who scored A* in French, History and Spanish, and A in English Literature, will study law at Cambridge.

“We are utterly relieved.” said the twins. “We’re thrilled to be branching out in our different directions, and thanks to St Peter’s for all the support and help with our preparation. We’re very happy with these results.”

“This is an outstanding achievement by both girls, and reflects the hard work and enthusiasm for learning that has been typical of their time here at St Peter’s,” said Leo Winkley, the school’s head master. “We wish them, and all our pupils, the very best as they head off for the next stage in their lives.”

All eight St Peter’s pupils with offers for Oxford and Cambridge achieved the results they needed to secure their places. Pupils heading for Oxford include Libby Brown (chemistry), Alistair Duffey (physics), Helen Megone (classics) and Maciej Psiuch (chemistry). Entering Cambridge are Helen Taylor, reading law, and Emily Mahon, who will be reading modern and medieval languages.
