The latest daily figures have confirmed that 24 more people have died in Yorkshire hospitals after testing positive for Covid.

The deaths were confirmed in figures released by NHS England, on Thursday, Ferbruary 25.

Across the country, the figures show that 254 people died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the 24 hours to 4pm on Wednesday, February 24.

The deaths were between December 28, 2020 to February, 24 2021

The time taken for positive results to be received is among the potential factors in a delay between a death happening and being recorded

Since April 28 2020, NHS England and NHS Improvement also started to report the number of patient deaths where there has been no Covid-19 positive test result but it is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death in the death certification process.

The figures for the latest reporting period show there were 52 such deaths in England.

A total of 8,300 people have died with the virus in Yorkshire according to statistics.

Deaths were recorded at the following hospital trusts in Yorkshire and the Humber:

Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust 7

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 5

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust 2

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 2

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust 1

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust 2

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust 4

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust 1
