Starting and finishing at the University of York, the Plusnet Yorkshire 10 Mile will get underway immediately after the marathon and take in a section of the attractive 26.2 mile course.

The 10 mile entrants will get to soak up the unique atmosphere and enjoy the support of the large and enthusiastic crowds that have become such a feature of the marathon since its launch in 2013.

And anyone securing a place in the new event before 6pm on Monday August 3rd will be able to take advantage of a discounted entry price of £25. Would-be runners should go to www.theyorkshiremarathon.com to enter – but with the event expected to be extremely popular, they are urged to move fast to secure their place.

Along with the Northern Gas Networks Corporate Relay, the new 10 Mile event will bring a ‘festival feel’ to the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon.

Charlie Tatman, of the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon, said: “The 10 mile event brings a great new dimension to the already popular Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon. There is always a fantastic atmosphere on marathon race day and the introduction of a 10 mile run gives more people the opportunity to be involved.”

The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon is part of Jane Tomlinson’s lasting legacy. Jane Tomlinson CBE raised £1.85m for charities before her untimely death from cancer aged just 43 in 2007
