Campaign role for cancer survivor

A CANCER survivor from Yorkshire is playing a starring role in Cancer Research UK’s national campaign to launch its new identity and inspire people to raise money for life-saving research.

Harry Baines, of York, will appear in adverts across
the UK from today.

The Sheffield Hallam University student was only 19 when he was diagnosed in 2010 with the rare paediatric follicular lymphoma after a lump developed from the bottom of his chin to the side of his jaw. He received treatment at Sheffield’s Weston Park Hospital before being given the all clear.

“It’s such a rare cancer that the doctors said I am the only person in my age group in the UK that has been diagnosed with it,” he said. “Success stories like mine would not be possible without the work of Cancer Research UK. This is my chance to give something back.”

He will appear, alongside fellow cancer survivors, supporters and staff, in the image of the ‘C’ at the start of the charity’s new logo. picture: Cancer Research UK.
