Burley Banksy creates amazing tribute to NHS staff at Leeds General Infirmary battling coronavirus

Teacher Andy McVeigh, 49, painted four electrical boxes in blue and white, to say thank you to Leeds' frontline hospital staff who are battling the coronavirus pandemic.

On them, he wrote "With love and respect. Thank you NHS.

"The best of us. Heroes."

Andy McVeigh, known as the Burley Banksy, has paid tribute to the amazing NHS staff in Leeds who are working hard during the coronavirus pandemic.

In typical Yorkshire humour, he then added: "Total chuffin' legends, the lot of you."

Another box had an NHS badge painted on the side, with the name tag reading "hero", while another simply showed a love heart above the letters "LGI".

Andy, a huge Leeds United fan, couldn't resist including the city's beloved clubs, and included a painting of a sports shirt, emblazoned with "NHS 20 LGI Legends" on the back.

The self-confessed 'amateur' painter told the YEP: "We talk about Leeds United legends like Bremner a lot but at the end of the day, they just kick a football about.

"It means a lot to us but maybe 'legends' should be reserved for people like the staff at LGI and Jimmy's etc.

"That's why I did the Leeds shirt box outside."

He added on Twitter: "Painted these at Leeds General Infirmary. (Alone, deserted, mask, gloves, hands washed b4, during,after.)

"If it just lifts one nurse's spirits in next fortnight... best art I've done.

"'Heroes' almost a cliche now but no other word more apt."

Andy became a viral sensation back in 2019 for his incredible work across the city.
