A further 42 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19 in Yorkshire hospitals.

This is according to the latest figures released by NHS England on Thursday, December 31.

One person died in a hospital in the Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

Five people died in hospital in Barnsley.

One person died in hospital in Harrogate.

Seven people died in hospitals in Hull.

Three people died in hospitals in Leeds.

Three people died in hospitals in Rotherham.

Three people died in hospitals in Sheffield.

Three people died in hospitals in the York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus related deaths in Yorkshire is 5,944.

NHS England publishes the number of patients who have died in hospital and tested positive for COVID-19 in England.

Since Tuesday, April 28 NHS England and NHS Improvement also reports the number of patient deaths where there has been no COVID-19 positive test result, but where COVID-19 is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death on part 1 or part 2 of the death certification process.
