The latest Yorkshire Covid infection rate as cities and towns put in Tier 2 lockdown

Cities and towns across Yorkshire have been placed into the 'Tier 2' category as part of the new lockdown tier system announced by the Government.

These are the 10 Yorkshire areas with the highest weekly coronavirus infection rates for the seven days to October 9.

Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, Wakefield, Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Middlesbrough and Sheffield are in the 'High' alert Tier 2 bracket. Everywhere else in Yorkshire is in the 'Medium' Tier 1 category where no extra restrictions are in place aside from the national ones, such as the rule of six. These are the 10 Yorkshire areas with the highest weekly coronavirus infection rates, listed in descending order. The figures, for the seven days to October 9, are based on tests carried out in laboratories (pillar one of the Government’s testing programme) and in the wider community (pillar two).Pictures are for illustrative purposes only.

Sheffield had a rate of 412.8 (2414 cases) )in the seven days to October 9, up from 318.7 (1864 cases).

Leeds had a rate of 363.1 (2880 cases) in the seven days to October 9, up from 343.4 (2724 cases).
Bradford had a rate of 289.7 (1564 cases) in the seven days to October 9, up from 267.5 (1444 cases)
Middlesbrough had a rate of 283.0 (399 cases) in the seven days to October 9, up from 221.3 (312 cases)
Rotherham had a rate of 238.9 (634 cases) in the seven days to October 9, up from 172.6 (458 cases)
Calderdale had a rate of 219.9 (465 cases) in the seven days to October 9, up from 144.2 (305 cases)
Barnsley had a rate of 225.6 (557 cases) in the seven days to October 9, up from 134.1 (331 cases)
Wakefield had a rate of 195.8 (682 cases) in the seven days to October 9, up from 140.7 (490 cases)
Kirklees had a rate of 212.8 (936 cases) in the seven days to October 9, up from 172.8 (760 cases).
York had a rate of 219.8 (463 cases) in the seven days to October 9, up from 162.4 (342 cases)
