Total of 72 new Covid deaths recorded in Yorkshire hospitals

A total of 72 new Covid deaths have been recorded in Yorkshire hospitals, according to new statistics.

Deaths were recorded where a patient either tested positive for Covid-19 or where no positive test result was received for Covid-19, but Covid-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS England releases updated figures each day showing the dates of every coronavirus-related death at hospitals in England, often including previously uncounted deaths that took place several days or even weeks ago.

The highest increase was recorded by Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust with 26 deaths, while 14 were recorded by Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Elsewhere in Yorkshire, a further 32 deaths were recorded.

This takes the death toll in the county from the virus to 4,349.

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust: 2

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 1

Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust: 14

Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust: 9

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust: 4

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: 4

York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust: 3
