Vape shop in Leeds threatened with court after flouting lockdown rules to keep serving customers

A vape shop in Leeds has been threatened with court action after flouting coronavirus lockdown rules to keep serving customers.

Revo Vapes in Morley continued to sell vape cigarettes despite the country being placed under lockdown measures to try manage the spread of Covid-19.

The regulations were brought in on March 26 and require non-essential shops to remain closed until further notice.

The owners of Revo were reminded of the new restrictions.

However, days later, West Yorkshire Police officers spotted a member of the public being served through a window hatch.

A prohibition notice was served to the owner on Monday, April 6.

This order bans direct sales from the shop.

If the business continues to serve members of the public at the shop they will be prosecuted in court.

The penalty is an unlimited fine.

"We will always be fair and balanced when dealing with instances where the regulations are not being adhered to, but where operators refuse to cooperate and continue to break the law we will take appropriate enforcement action."

Businesses permitted to remain open under these regulations are:
