York to be placed in Tier 2 lockdown under new alert system
The move means tougher restrictions for the city - including a ban on households mixing indoors, including in pubs.
Outdoors, you can meet in groups of up to six people.
Businesses and venues are NOT asked to close under Tier 2 and the national guidelines on shutting at 10pm, wearing face coverings and operate in a Covid-secure manner, including restrictions on table service and group bookings, still apply.
The city’s MPs were told about the move by ministers.
