Families pitch in to help after couple have naturally-conceived triplets

ALL new parents know the arrival of a baby can put a strain on family finances.

But with identical triplets Heidi, Lily and Ellie to care for, Katie Godfrey and Dan Middleton have had to rely on help from their families to help meet the punishing cost of around 100 nappies a week, large quantities of formula milk and countless new outfits.

The couple surprised the doctors who told them the that odds against the natural conception of identical triplets were very high.

The 23-year-old mother from Wakefield said: “A doctor told us we would have more chance of winning the lottery than having natural, identical triplets.

“But this is better than winning the lottery, it’s hard work but more than worth it, with three babies our hand are always full.

“Its been a big shock and, of course, it is expensive and we have had to go to our families for financial support.

“We go though a pack of nappies a day, about 100 a week, spend lots on formula to keep them fed and healthy and go though too many matching outfits to mention.”
