Only travel for your vaccine if it’s safe to do so, warn Calderdale health chiefs

Health chiefs in Calderdale are warning elderly people in the borough to only go for their Covid-19 vaccination if they feel safe to do so as poor weather hits the area.

In a statement, NHS Calderdale CCG said: “All our vaccination centres that were due to deliver vaccines continue to be open for business delivering vaccines to patients who have an appointment.

“However, as heavy rain continues to fall, and with snow forecast tomorrow across Calderdale we are advising those people who have booked Covid-19 vaccinations over the next few days to only travel if it is safe and they feel confident to do so.

“The majority of those booked for vaccinations will be over the age of 80 and their safety is very important to us. If there is any doubt they should cancel and rearrange their appointment for another time.

“We are continuing to work closely with our partners at Calderdale Council’s Streetscene Service to do all we can to ensure that routes to all GP practices, including those that are administering coronavirus vaccinations, are accessible to people and vehicles during this spell of bad weather.”
