The young girl was found shortly after 3pm on Monday afternoon on Lincoln Road in Tuxford, a village in Nottinghamshire.

Local residents are reported to have witnessed Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance on the scene, as well as a heavy police presence.

Nottinghamshire Police said: "At 15:05 on Monday February 19 2018, a six-year-old girl was found unresponsive.

"She was taken to Sheffield Children's Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

"Inquiries are still ongoing."
