Fans of the snack will be able to pick up spicy curry, beef, tomato or chicken and mushroom 24 hours a day when the machine is turned on next week.

It appeared on Mansfield Road over the last couple of days with customers getting a fork and hot water added so they can enjoy their snack on the move.

And while vending machines selling noodles may be commonplace in countries like Japan, the new noodle machine has been causing a stir.

Student Richard Harris, 22, of the Arboretum, said: “I can’t say I’ve ever really craved a Pot Noodle at four in the morning, but I imagine the queues will be pretty big because it’s so quirky especially among students.”

Mother-of-two Natalie Barnes, 31, of Sherwood, said: “It’s brilliant - I might get one when I’m waiting for the bus or something. They’ve got machines like this all over Japan, so why not here?”
