These scenes from ITV's Victoria were shot at Wentworth Woodhouse in Yorkshire

The third series of ITV's Victoria drew to a close this week - having featured several scenes shot at one of Yorkshire's grandest stately homes.

Wentworth Woodhouse, near Rotherham, which is currently undergoing a major restoration, was used as a filming location thanks to its grand facade - which is longer than the frontage of Buckingham Palace - and other period features.

Wentworth Woodhouse: Yorkshire's sleeping giant awakens as restoration beginsThe house is the ancestral seat of the Earls Fitzwilliam, but the family left after World War Two and it was leased out to a number of tenants, including a ladies' teacher training college. It was later privately owned and in recent years has been taken over by a preservation trust who aim to fully open it to the public.

Bill to restore Wentworth Woodhouse could hit £200millionHiring the mansion and its grounds out to TV and film production companies has proved a useful source of income - the house has also featured in The Darkest Hour, The Thirteenth Tale and Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell.

A French palace

In episode one, King Louis Phillipe of France flees his palace during the French Revolution in 1848. These scenes were filmed in the Whistlejacket Room and Marble Saloon at Wentworth.

In episode two, Queen Victoria drives past a boxing match in some parkland. This scene used the Camelia House in Wentworth's gardens - it's currently roofless and almost derelict, and is scheduled to undergo restoration work.

A London slum

The slum visited by Prince Albert is actually a passageway called Dog Kennel Alley, which runs from a staff office in the house to an external courtyard called Fives Court that's currently empty.

Dog Kennel Alley also appeared in the cholera outbreak scenes in episode four.

Hospital scene

A dramatic hospital scene featuring cholera victims was shot in the Pink Corridor outside Wentworth's gift shop and cafe.
