Have your say

There was a time when our towns and cities were filled with the smells and sounds of steam locomotion.

Thousands of us travelled every day by train and every place from the biggest cities to the smallest villages had some sort of a station.

In this picture gallery we take a peek back at those steel monsters that thundered along our Yorkshire rail tracks, pulling carriage loads of working people and ferrying the materials that made our region such a vital part of the industry of the nation.
