The 24-year-old joined Town from Monaco in the summer of 2018 on a three-year deal with the option of an additional year.

Diakhaby made just 46 appearances for the club and was farmed out on loan to Nottingham Forest in the second half of last season where he struggled to make an impression.

Deadline-day activity at Town saw young defender Mustapha Olagunju joins Port Vale on loan for the rest of the season, with the club adding a back-up goalkeeping option in Jayson Leutwiler.

Town’s Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented: “This transfer works for everyone involved and I’m glad we’ve been able to reach this deal.

“We’d like to wish Adama all the best for the future.”

The club were linked with a number of strikers on deadline day, but were unable to make a breakthrough in their quest to add to their forward options.
