Labour should lead campaign to rejoin Single Market – Yorkshire Post Letters
I THANK The Yorkshire Post for the stimulating views expressed in recent letters from Debra Stretton and Richard Wilson, concerning the right policy for Labour to adopt on the European Union.
As a Labour supporter and committed opponent of Brexit, I feel campaigning to rejoin the EU is certainly the right thing to address the horrific self- harm that has already been done by the populist nonsense of leaving.

Hide AdThat is probably where my contemporary fellow Leeds University graduate, Sir Keir Starmer, is too.
Yet such a policy would almost certainly wreck any chance of a swift return to government for his party.
On balance, campaigning to re-enter the Single Market is the expedient way ahead.
The right thing is often elusive in politics – witness the dilemmas that faced Republican senators at the Donald Trump impeachment trial.

Hide AdThe wrong thing is much clearer, Labour must not accept the fallacies and duplicities heaped upon us by Brexiteers, and in contrast to those US senators who let the heinous actions of the former president go unpunished.
