Murderer and rapist Pawel Relowicz had his previous prison sentence for sex-related offences reduced, The Yorkshire Post can reveal.

The Polish butcher was today found guilty of the rape and murder of University of Hull student Libby Squire.

He will be sentenced on Friday at 2pm.

Relowicz, 26, was previously sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison back in August 2019, after he pleaded guilty to four counts of voyeurism, two of outraging public decency and three of burglary.

Sheffield Crown Court heard how his bizarre acts, committed over a 19 month period, included masturbating in public, spying on women in compromising positions and stealing sexual items from properties.

His offences left his victims feeling "violated". They included watching one woman have sex with her partner, spying on another woman when she had got out of the shower and watching a half-naked women from the window of her home.

Sentencing him at the time, Judge Jeremy Richardson QC described Relowicz as a "very dangerous individual" and a "sexual predator".

The Yorkshire Post can now reveal Relowicz had his eight-and-a-half year sentence reduced to five years and eight months back in March 2020 following a hearing at the Court of Appeal.

A Court of Appeal spokesman said: "This person had an appeal against sentence which was allowed by the full court and the total sentence is now: 5 years 8 months imprisonment and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order under section 103 of the sexual offences act 2003 until further order.

"The provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 apply to this offence."

Had Relowicz, 26, not been found guilty of any offence against Miss Squire, this would have seen him released from prison in December.
