Renault offers its own tyre brand

Renault claims to be the first manufacturer to offer its own tyre brand.

The feeling at Renault is that owners of “older” Renaults may not want to splash out on expensive replacement tyres, but the Motrio range will fit recently introduced models like Twingo.

Prices start at £36 per cover, fitted, for any marque.

Mark Crockett, director of service and quality at Renault UK, said: “After servicing, tyre replacement is the second most frequent reason for a motorist to visit a dealership or workshop and it is also one of the highest value items when maintaining a vehicle.”

Renault says it backs the quality of the tyre to the hilt: “The (tyre) is designed to deliver high performance – in wet or dry weather – and has been tested to Renault’s strict specifications to ensure owners can be certain that the performance of the tyre is in harmony with their vehicle.”

The standard Motrio is the Impulsion, for the smaller budget cars, and the bigger and sporty models have the Impulsion+.

“Both tread patterns provide almost silent running, even at high speeds, as well as greater steering accuracy, braking efficiency and, thanks to their longevity, reduced maintenance costs”, says Renault.

The only thing it will not say is where they are made and by whom.
