A Father’s Day toast
to deserving Dads

So, for a change, why not astound him tomorrow with a six-pack of wine from Majestic that has been specially put together with men in mind.

Containing wines such as Gran Reserve Rioja from Alarde, Jim Barry Cover Drive Cabernet and Catena Malbec the price is £59.19 and from that price, Majestic will give £5 to Prostate Cancer UK. A worthwhile cause, for a worthwhile Dad?

Parking close to The Halifax Wine Co has been difficult for several months but now the parking restrictions have been sorted out so if you need to collect a case of wine, you should be able to get close to the shop.

While you are there pick up a few bottles of Falesco Grechetto 2014 from Umbria for its delicate, aromatic, almond and peach flavours. Perfect on its own or as a sun-downer with nibbles.

Paillard Champagne stars at restaurant

I have been a fan of Bruno Paillard Champagne for years but it has been difficult to find in our region.

Now this brand is heading north and a dinner at The Star Inn, Harome on Wednesday, July 1, will show just how good it is.

François Colas from Champagne House Bruno Paillard will present a range of champagnes matched with a four-course menu designed by Andrew Pern.

Tickets cost £95, ring 01439 770397 for details.
