The Michelin-starred Pipe and Glass Inn, at South Dalton, near Beverley, was last year’s County Dining Pub of the Year for Yorkshire.

The latest of many accolades it comes days after the inn was named number six in the top 50 pubs in the country in The Good Food Guide.

Chef James Mackenzie who with wife Kate owns the Pipe and Glass, and is also a columnist for the Yorkshire Post’s Saturday magazine, said although the award came as a “pleasant surprise” they never rest on their laurels.

He said: “It’s great getting awards, but day to day we try to do our best - you can never lose sight of what we want to do which is welcome people through the door and give them good food and great Yorkshire hospitality.

“We have stuck to our guns in what we do, delivering what people want and trying to offer quality at all times - and quality doesn’t mean expensive, it means offering value for money.”

The inn, which is looking to retain its Michelin star for a sixth consecutive year, which will celebrate its tenth birthday in 2016, now employs 45 staff and is adding three bedrooms, each with its own mini garden and an outside dining area for 10 people in a new kitchen garden.
