On the grapevine

Ten days of food, drink and fun has just started in York and the festival runs until September 26 with dinners, tastings and demonstrations all week.

Today you can taste your way through dozens of whiskies at the York Whisky Lounge Festival in the Guildhall. There are two sessions, from noon- 4pm and 5-9pm. Tickets cost 15.

Karen Hardwick will be giving an Introduction to the Wines of Italy at Melton's Too at 1pm (5.50) while tomorrow Charles Metcalfe will be matching sherry and tapas at Melton's Too (5.50).

Terroir Languedoc

Congratulations to Gemma Crangle who runs Terroir Languedoc based in Skipton.

She was named as Languedoc Specialist Merchant of the Year in the International Wine Challenge Awards.
