On the grapevine
Mining threat
Some of South Africa's best wine producers are under threat as the state-owned African Exploration Mining and Finance Corporation has applied to prospect on some of the Cape's most beautiful winelands. Estates such as Jordan, Saxenburg and Zevenwacht are under threat as is the biodiversity initiative which has been established over the last five years. Tell them what you think about the idea of digging out some of the world's most beautiful vineyards by emailing Renee Francis-Steele at [email protected].
Star rating
I don't often comment on the contents of the Yorkshire Post Wine Club case, mainly because I know that they all contain really good wines at great prices, however I enjoyed Quinta de Ramozeiros 2004 so much I just had to tell you. Full of luscious damson and dried cherry fruit, with a dusting of herbs, this is a serious dinner party stuff and it tastes like a 10 wine.
