Off the shelf

Here is this week's top pick of good value bottles to savour

Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2010, New Zealand, Sainsbury down from 8.49 to 5.65 until December 31: Renamed from its former life as Montana, this is still the same zingy, zesty, green pepper-fuelled wine that works perfectly for parties and aperitifs.

Blason Montagny Vieilles Vignes 2008 White Burgundy, Tesco down from 14.99 to 7.49 until January 4: A little challenged at its full price, this well-balanced, minerally, spiced apples and citrus white Burgundy comes into its comfort zone at the offer price.

Corralillo Syrah 2009, San Antonio Valley, Chile, Oddbins down from 16.99 to 9.99 until January 5: This wine has a distinct note of violets on the nose, followed by deep, pepper-strewn plummy fruit with a long savoury finish. Supple and ready to drink now but won't come to any harm for a couple of years.

Langlois Crmant de Loire Brut, Majestic down from 11.99 to 8.99 on multibuy until January 31: A nose of white spring flowers and a touch of strawberries and honey on the palate this is quite different from other non-champagne fizzes.
