Torres Via Sol Chardonnay 2009, Spain, Morrisons down from 7.49 to 4.99 until November 7. A new addition to the Torres range, made with all the attention to detail expected from this company. It has crisp, melon fruit and no hint of oak; great with fish and chicken.

Cono Sur Reserva Riesling 2009, Tesco, down from 8.29 to 6 until November 30. Don't worry if you haven't bought Riesling for a decade or more, it is time to try it again and this one is lovely. Light citrus notes with a whiff of a petrol forecourt.

Beaujolais-Villages 2009, Ch de la Terrire, France, Majestic 8.99 down to 7.99 on multibuy until November 1. With the 2010 harvest already in, pretty soon the exceptionally good 2009 vintage will seem old hat. This wine is full of the ripe cherry fruit of the region.

El Quintanal Tempranillo Ribera del Duero, 2009, Spain, Oddbins, down from 10.99 to 7.99 until November 7. Old vines, low yields and just a short period in oak give this wine real concentration of mulberry fruit with soft, supple tannins and a creamy elegant finish.
