Here is this week's top pick of good value bottles to savour

Porcupine Ridge Sauvignon Blanc 2009, South Africa, Sainsbury down from 6.99 to 5 until March 2. Fresh gooseberry and tropical fruit flavours in this well-made dry white from the Marc Kent, winemaker of Boekenhoutskloof.

Cape Chardonnay 2009, South Africa, Co-op, down from 5.49 to 4.49 until March 2. Fairtrade wines have jumped up the quality ladder and this one now offers bright fresh citrussy fruit with enough weight to accompany food.

Cape Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, South Africa, Co-op down from 5.49 to 4.49 until March 2. Fairtrade Fortnight has started early at the Co-op with this ripe, juicy, casserole-friendly red, now on offer.

Prosecco Raboso, Italy, Marks and Spencer, down from 8.99 to 6.99 until February 28. Pink Prosecco is a great anytime drink and because the rules are changing, they will soon stop making it under this name, so enjoy the soft sherbet and strawberry fruit while you can.
