Hinchliffe’s Farm Shop in Netherton, Huddersfield, is displaying two giant pork crusties, measuring between ten and 12 inches wide and created by tattooist turned pie mistress Nell Weavill. The pies represent the Yorkshire Rose, painted in edible yellow, white and green paint, and the Union flag, daubed red, white and blue.

Master butcher Craig Midwood said the patriotic pies represent all that’s best about British pies.

“Only 100 per cent British ingredients go into our pies,” he said.
